A few moons ago, when I first heard of AI, I rejected the idea of it, I decided to avoid using it
not realizing it was counterproductive. It took me five minutes to make peace with it, and
before I knew it, I was creating an Agent, next thing I was telling anyone who wanted to
listen about the different applications of artificial intelligence, and how use it on daytoday
basis.

Starting the week can be hard on us, but what if technology was at our disposal to at least
help us with preparing and planning for it, or making our jobs a bit easier?

As the year is coming to its end, I noticed Mondays take a toll on me and to make it easier, I
use Copilot to help with different tasks: organize my schedule, prepare draft emails, polish
documents I had started (and need to submit before deadline) to name a few.

When the weekend draws to a close, I take a few minutes to organize my week ahead: With
help of Copilot, I schedule my week and organize tasks in order of importance and delivery
dates.

When working on Excel, I like to verify formulas and correct errors. It’s a very useful tool to
have Copilot on Excel, for suggestions of better reporting, or speed up the work in progress.

Coffee mug beside a laptop showing Copilot tasks and a Monday calendar with sticky notes.

Prepare draft emails, or change the tone of a conversation are great instruments for dealing
with different topics and remain professional and friendly (especially for me, that English is
not my first, neither second language, and sometimes AI helps me to make a better choice
of words
). Did you know that one can automate repetitive Excel tasks by writing
formulas or scripts through natural language commands?

Lastly, but not less important is preparing SOPs. Drafting a stepbystep for accounting,
has become an easy task: I tell Copilot instructions, main ideas, descriptions of goals and
the highlights of each step. Reviewing the response from AI, and making some adjustments
are part of the process, and minutes later the SOP is ready to be presented and shared with
colleagues. If I could list a few advantages of this resource, I would say this is very useful
when training new employees and, audit prep.

The future is here, and as time changes, our responsibility is to adapt and grow. In the
accounting world, AI is here to stay, and we can embrace it, using it as a resourceful tool,
that improves parts of our jobs.
