Convert Your Figma Designs to Microsoft Power Apps

The gap between design and development is not easily filled. In fact, some agile teams might even go without one or the other. With design apps like Figma or coding platforms like the Microsoft Power Platform, citizen designers and developers — as well as their teams — are empowered to be leaner teams, move faster and accelerate the project timelines.

What is Figma?

Figma is a cloud-based design application focused on collaboration. You can use it to create all kinds of design work, from graphic designs and presentations to designing mobile app interfaces, social media posts, and much more.

Figma makes design accessible by leveraging a web browser application rather than an expensive suite of applications. You’ll also find Figma on macOS, Windows, or Linux, as well as iOS and Android devices.

What is Power Apps?

Power Apps is a low-code development platform part of the Microsoft Power Platform. It allows you to build mobile or web business applications without development expertise. Using Power Apps, you can connect your custom apps to your data or to various online and on-premises data sources, such as SharePoint or Microsoft 365.

Convert Figma designs to Microsoft Power Apps automatically

Designs can be created in Figma using the Create Apps from Figma UI Kit, including detailed instructions for using the kit and supplies supported documents for Power Apps. Once the designs are created, provide the link to your Figma design file, and Power Apps will create a new canvas app using the designs as a base. The design frames are then automatically converted into screens in Power Apps.

Why is converting Figma directly to Power Apps a powerful feature?

This feature allows you to build out all your screens ahead of time in Figma and then import them into the Power App studio. Figma has a lot of creative capabilities – creating a much more pixel-perfect application. Converting Figma designs to Microsoft Power Apps automatically will help make your teams more agile and allow designers to create the interface they want while making it so front-end and back-end developers can focus on what they know best: coding!

Figma also allows multiple people to collaborate on a project simultaneously, making it an excellent collaboration tool.

Overall, it is a great resource to help break down big projects – ones that may have over ten screens. Building these out ahead of time helps to stay organized.
